Key findings from the Global Survey 2025

The IILPM Global Survey 2025 captured insights from 61 professionals across Europe, Latin America, North America, the Middle East & Africa, and Asia-Pacific. Among its key findings:

Sustained growth of LPM: 59% of organizations reported moderate growth in LPM adoption over the past three years, while 21% noted significant growth.

Top drivers: Efficiency (36%) and cost control (31%) remain the primary reasons for implementing LPM, followed by client demand.

Main barriers: Resistance to change (56%) and lack of training or knowledge (27%) continue to be the biggest obstacles.

Most common methodologies: A majority (43%) of organizations use a hybrid approach that combines traditional and agile methods.

Role of technology: 38% consider technology “very important” for LPM, but only 18% consider it “essential.” The most widely used tools are general management platforms (50%) and AI solutions (35%).

Impact of AI: 43% believe AI will have a “significant” impact on LPM, while 25% view it as “transformational.” Future skills: Change management, technology use, effective communication, and leadership/collaboration were identified as the most important skills for legal professionals.

Training and certification: Nearly 41% are actively seeking training options, and another 39% already hold LPM certifications.

In the words of Dr. Todd Hutchison, Global Chair of IILPM:
The 2025 Survey results confirm that LPM continues to grow and consolidate as a key discipline in the legal sector. However, challenges remain, particularly around resistance to change and the need for training. The future of LPM will depend not only on the intelligent integration of technology but also on strengthening the human competencies of legal professionals.
